‘The story is not told to lift you up, to make you feel better, or to entertain you, although all those things can be true. The story is meant to take the spirit into a descent to find something that is lost or missing and to bring it back to consciousness again.” Clarissa Pinkola Estés
I am a playwright, dramaturg and self-confessed history geek, based between Bath and my native North Cornwall.
I am currently Peggy Ramsay Playwright 73 Writer in Residence at Shakespeare’s Globe and Exeter Northcott.
For over two decades, I have worked extensively nationally and internationally as a dramaturg with playwrights and theatremakers both in the making of new work for audiences and the creation of the space that makes that work possible.
Alongside my playwriting and dramaturgy, I mentor and teach for drama schools, universities, performance companies and individuals.
As a writer I am passionate about rediscovering the hidden histories of the people who really make our world.
As a dramaturg, I am passionate about creating the conditions by which the best work can be made – work that is inclusive, representative and enables us to see and be seen.
On this site you will find information about my work and also my Hope and Story Blog, with my latest news and reflections.
